Pictures to Share recently exhibited at the Dementia Care Conference in Edinburgh. Our latest titles, Beside the Seaside and A Funny Old World, attracted a lot of interest and positive comments from delegates.
Following the successful launch of our two latest titles 'Beside the Seaside and A Funny Old World work has started on development of three new titles on the themes of sport, gardening and the Asian community.
Since the launch of our first three books in November 2006 we have been very pleased with our customer feedback, both in terms of the quality of our books and also with regard to their value as a resource for carers of people living with dementia:-
"Responses to the books have included lots of laughter (especially the Funny Old World book) sharing memories and people with dementia talking more fluently when looking at the pictures."
Day Care Centre manager
"My aunt spent ages looking at each picture in the Childhood book and reading the words she could manage. She didn't get to the end of the book, she found it so absorbing."
Neice of lady with dementia
"My mother had stopped reading. When I gave her the Childhood book she smiled at the pictures and it provided us with something to discuss. The books are a great idea. I am recommending them to others."
Daughter of a lady with dementia.
"I introduced the book to a resident with dementia. It brought smiles and tears. The first day I used the book for only a few minutes, then increased over the week. Gradually we were able to carry on for a longer period."
Care worker in a residential home.
"My mother's concentration is poor and intellectual capacity greatly diminished, but she had a better response to your book than anything else."
