I cannot begin to tell you what a valuable tool for communication your books are, I work in a nursing home both as a nurse and a reminiscence therapist. Your books are like keys which can open previously closed doors, and allow me a therapeutic means of communication with people it was often a struggle to reach. Using your books was a rewarding time for me and I hope too for the people who enjoyed them. I have had smiles and eye contact from people usually vague and locked away. I could write a book myself on the positive comments the residents made about the fantastic images and poetry within your pages - so thank you - so much.
Jo Thomas, Nurse and Reminiscence Therapist
The response from our residents was really good. To hear the laughter and conversation was wonderful and although the books brought them a lot of pleasure it was also very enjoyable for my staff team to see a different side to some of our residents.
Wendy Roberts, Manager
The books have proved to be very useful for reminiscence particularly for our residents with dementia but thoroughly enjoyed by all residents as well as staff.
Deby O'Hare, Manager
These books are excellent on a 'one to one' basis and can also calm down some difficult situtations with our service users.
Wilma Bruce, Activities Co-ordinator
As an activities organiser it can be difficult to motivate some residents and keep their attention, but all the residents enjoyed looking at the books. Some just looked at the pictures other read the text and told me what was happening in the picture. Although the books I feel are a bit expensive for limited funds, they were worth every penny to see the residents enjoying them.
Donna Ross, Activities Co-ordinator
I have only had the books for a short
while but I feel like I have discovered a magic formula for making the
residents happy.
Activities Co-ordinator, Perth & Kinross
As someone fairly new to my job as
activity worker, the books opened up a world of communication for me with hard
to reach people.

Residents that are very
agitated and do not sit down for long have sat and looked at the books for long
periods of time. Also residents that do not react to us have shown reactions to
certain pictures. It has allowed me to work with residents I had previously
struggled with.

My mother has Alzheimer's and
has been in residential care for three years. Her response to the books was
amazing. We sat together on the settee and Mum turned the pages with great
interest. In her limited way she made comments and expressions, even picking
out the occasional word. Her overall mood during this session, which lasted
half an hour, was of joy and laughter. It not only brought joy to her, but also
to me and my father.

All the pictures are great
and well thought out. It has been a pleasure sharing the books with my Grandma
when we visit her. Thank you

The problem with the care
home where my mother lives, is that although they care well for my mother, the
books they provide (such as old Readers Digest condensed books) are pointless
for people with dementia, whereas your publications cater well for their needs.
